What it looks like
Pigment is placed in the surface layer of the lip skin. Depending on the result you want, we work with a soft wash of colour (natural, watercolour-style lips) or a more saturated shade. Our specialist trained in the Flash Lips technique at The Academy Julie Hai Yen, among others.
The treatment takes about 120 minutes including the consultation, colour selection and anaesthetic. Lips stay swollen for 1–3 days afterwards and look much darker than the final shade — that is a normal stage of healing, and the colour lightens by 30–50%.
How the treatment works
- Consultation — we check the condition of your lips and ask about cold sores and contraindications.
- Contour and colour — we draw the shape and select the shade, holding it against your face.
- Anaesthetic — lips are sensitive, so it is applied in two stages.
- Pigmentation — about 60–90 minutes.
- Touch-up after 6–8 weeks — evens out the colour where the pigment took less well.

Frequently asked questions
Does the lip treatment hurt?
Lips are more sensitive than brows, so the anaesthetic is applied in two stages — before and during the treatment. It usually feels like tingling and pressure.
How do lips look right after the treatment?
They stay swollen for 1–3 days and the colour looks much darker than the final shade. Once the skin flakes off, it lightens by 30–50%.
I get cold sores — can I have permanent lip makeup?
Yes, but antiviral prophylaxis started before the treatment is required. With an active outbreak we don’t perform it. Please tell us at the consultation.
Will the colour look artificial?
The shade is matched to your natural lip colour and complexion, and we hold it against your face before pigmenting. We can work subtly or more intensely — it’s your call.
Can it be combined with lip fillers?
Yes, but permanent makeup comes first and the filler 4 weeks later. The other way round changes the contour while it heals.
How long does permanent lip makeup last?
Usually one to two years. Lips fade faster than brows because the skin there renews more quickly.
